Hydraulic Reversible MB Plows: Why Proper Soil Inversion Drives Yields

Primary tillage forms the biological and mechanical foundation of the planting cycle. When dealing with dense root clusters, deep-set weed seeds, or stubborn post-harvest stubble, conventional disc implements often merely scratch the surface. A heavy-duty hydraulic reversible moldboard plow tackles this by mechanically turning the topsoil layer 180 degrees.

The primary engineering advantage of reversible plowing lies in its dual-set moldboard design. Operating with a continuous hydraulic rollover mechanism, the tractor driver can reverse the plow bottoms at the headland with a single lever stroke. This keeps furrow inversion heading in the same direction across every pass, eliminating waste-prone dead furrows and ridges that trap runoff water. Beyond field leveling, deep inversion buries surface weed seeds and insect pupae below their germination zone, reducing early herbicide dependence. When matched correctly with tractor horsepower—typically 50 HP and above—the aerodynamic wing geometry reduces drawbar resistance, translating directly to fewer liters of diesel burned per acre.
